We can design individualised, outcomes-based, systemic and integrated strategies to achieve the results you require in the following areas:
The Echidna Group specialises in qualitative research methodologies, and Indigenous research methodologies that require a commitment to consultation and collaboration with Indigenous communities, ensuring work is conducted in a manner that is culturally appropriate in terms of how information is imparted, collected and returned.
The Echidna Group advocates the following evidence-based approach to cultural competence training:
- A progression from the provision of mere ‘awareness’ of culture, to the development of ‘cultural competence’ amongst participants in terms of behaviour and practice;
- The provision of a comprehensive foundation of knowledge and skills relating to Australian Indigenous cultures, history and protocols for working effectively and appropriately with and within Indigenous communities; and
- Building upon this foundation of knowledge and skills with locally-specific information that is customised to the role and context of the audience.
The Echidna Group, and the Centre for Cultural Competence Australia can develop a customised cultural competence training program for your organisation that both meets best practice as well as your needs.
With extensive experience in developing, implementing and evaluating a wide variety of programs in the health and community service sectors for a variety of service providers, The Echidna Group can provide you with all aspects of program management.
The Echidna Group can assist your organisation in reviewing structure and performance, developing strategic and action plans policies and procedures, and accreditation and quality improvement activities. Common activities we are involved in include assisting organisations in developing an Aboriginal Employment Strategy, and implementing principles of culturally appropriate service delivery.
The Echidna Group can assist you in establishing contact, building relationships and developing partnerships with relevant Indigenous community groups and individuals.
